POTSDAM – With the theme “Staying Safe around Animals,” North Country Insurance Professionals in conjunction with Potsdam Humane Society will be conducting a safety poster contest at the animal shelter on March 24.
Children 8 to 11 years old will gather at the Potsdam Animal Shelter, 17 Madrid Ave., to create posters on the theme between 10 a.m. and noon.
One of the aims of the contest is to teach the kids how to stay safe around animals, what certain animal behaviors mean, and basic care of animals. The lessons are likely to be reflected in their works.
All poster materials will be provided. Posters will be judged for content related to the safety theme. Prizes for first, second and third places will be awarded.
Space is limited to 20 children. Call to reserve a seat: Potsdam Humane Society, 265-3199, or Mary-Ellen Blatchley, NCIP Safety Chairperson, at 854-5114.
The winning posters will be taken to the April convention of the Federation of New York Insurance Professionals in Geneva for competition in their statewide poster contest.
