MASSENA – Michael Gleason, Executive Director of the Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce has announced that the 2010 Massena Holiday Ornament will be available beginning Monday, Nov. 1 at the chamber office.

This year’s ornament has a drawing of the historical Smith Block in Downtown Massena by local artist Cecilia Dewey.

Cecilia has received awards for her work in numerous shows mainly in the North Country.

With each ornament purchased you will receive a printed history of the Smith Block.

Hiram “Penny” E. Smith had the building constructed to accommodate his growing grocery business.

The building was located on the corner of Main Street (then known as Harrogate Street) and Phillips Street. The building stood 3 stories high and was constructed from bricks.

When the construction was completed, Mr. Smith moved his grocery store to the corner space.

This year’s ornament is priced at $7.50 (includes tax) and can be purchased at the Massena Chamber of Commerce office – 50 Main St. (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) as well as at local financial institutions.

If you missed one of our previous ornaments, we still have some in stock – stop in and we will be glad to help you.
