DEKALB JUNCTION -- Madison White of Edwards is opening a bakery, The Sweet Retreat, at 4342 U.S. Route 11, in DeKalb Junction on Monday, Sept. 21.
This will be the 26-year-old's first business.
She attended JCC for culinary arts and most recently worked for Anastasia’s Bakery/ Maddie’s Bakery in Madrid.
White's bakery, at the site of the former Dresdan Plate Diner will be open Monday-Friday from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. for now until she sees what hours will be best for her confections.
She will offer donuts, cookies, scones, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, muffins, custom cakes, coffee, etc. She will have breakfast and lunch options available as well.
As part of her grand opening, every person that comes in on Sept. 21, will be able to enter their name into a drawing for a free large box of goodies.
