CANTON — St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch & Learn Webinar on Thursday, July 13, at noon, presenting "Regulatory Aspects of Starting a Food-Based Business.”

In this webinar, Maria "Flip" Filippi, Local Foods Program Leader & Harvest Kitchen Manager at Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County, will discuss regulatory requirements of food-based businesses and selling food products to the public.

She will discuss the differences between Department of Health Food Service Permits, Ag and Markets 20C Food Processing Licenses, and Home Processing Registrations.

The session will cover which products can be made with each designation, basic labeling requirements, and resources to get additional information.

The webinar will be approximately 30-minutes with a Q&A to follow the presentation, and supporting materials will be provided.

Flip is the manager of a shared-use kitchen in Canton called the Harvest Kitchen at the Extension Learning Farm, which is rented by multiple food entrepreneurs.

She advises beginning-stage food businesses in 1-1 consultations, webinars, and in-person workshops.
