Spruce seedlings were recently presented to fourth-grade classes in six local elementary schools as part of Alcoa's “10 Million Trees” program,.
Launched in 1998 by Alcoa, Inc., the goal of the program is to plant 10 million trees worldwide by 2020.
Alcoa's Massena Operations has distributed 27,850 tree seedlings to employees and students since 1998.
Among the schools receiving seedlings this year was Norwood-Norfolk Central School.
