NORTH COUNTRY THIS WEEK
POTSDAM — There will be one less place to shop in Potsdam in about a month. Dollar General announced it is closing.
“We are continually evaluating our stores and how to best serve our customers, and we have made the decision to close our location at 6598 State Highway 56 in Potsdam, New York,” said Angela Petkovic, public relations at Dollar General. “We are working with our State Highway 56 employees to relocate them to nearby locations.”
An employee at the store said they have been told Aug. 30 is expected to be the last day the store is open.
Dollar General sells food, housewares, seasonal items, cleaning supplies, basic apparel and health/beauty products.
There are Dollar General stores in many other St. Lawrence County towns, including ones built within the last few years in Norwood, Winthrop, Hopkinton, and Colton.
