POTSDAM – Potsdam Burger King, at 176 Market Street, is temporarily closed for a few weeks, due to an extensive fire Thursday morning, May 19, before 5 a.m.
Burger King officials said the restaurant will be closed for a few weeks for repairs.
“On arrival, heavy smoke and flames were exiting the roof of Burger King,” reported Potsdam Fire Dept. on their website.
“Firefighters found an active fire above the ceiling tiles inside of the restaurant. Firefighters quickly extinguished flames that were active in the duct work area. The fire was found to have extended into the roof,” the website said.
“Once on the roof, firefighters used K12 saws to cut into the roof to stop the extension of fire.” The Village Code Enforcement was notified and responded to the fire scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation,” the report said.
Potsdam Rescue provided fire standby.
