North Country This Week

POTSDAM – St. Lawrence County residents may be able to add fish, reptiles and arachnids to their lives soon.

Potsdam Aquatics, owned by Paul Lashomb, is planning to open at 1122 State Highway 11B.

Lashomb is the sole owner, receiving help from his girlfriend, Allison Perham.

“We are not open yet but we’ll be posting on our media sources when we know more about when we will be opening,” he said.

Lashomb hopes to carry freshwater tropical fish, saltwater marine fish, reptiles, arachnids such as tarantulas and scorpions, and possibly other small pets in the future.

“We both have been fish keeping for years and absolutely love it, but it is difficult up in the North Country since the closest stores are in Watertown and Plattsburgh which is a long way to travel,” Lashomb said.

He said their goal is to bring the love of keeping and caring for fish and other small animals back to the surrounding areas.

“We have had tons of people reach out to us about the store already so we are sure we will be successful when we open,” Lashomb said

Their website is www.potsdamaquatics.com email is potsdamaquatics@gmail.com, they can be contacted through their Facebook group (Potsdam Aquatics), and the phone number is 315-221-9922.

Lashomb said the best way to reach them right now since they aren’t open yet, is through Facebook or email.
