STAR LAKE -- Western Adirondack Railroad Modelers will host an open house and swap meet July 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Adirondack Exhibit Center, 4195 State Rte. 3.
There will be a 12-foot by 28-foot model Cranberry Lake railroad with buildings based on 1907 photos, including the Wanakena sawmill and other industries and Benson mines.
Tables to sell or swap will be available for free with donations accepted.
Watertown photographer R.D. White will sign copies of his new book “Railroad Heydays on the Hojack” at 10 a.m. He was a brakeman and conductor for Conrail from 1973 to 1982.
George Persson will give a short talk on progress reopening the railroad and shipping crushed rock from the Benson mines.
