COLTON —  Colton-Pierrepont School is embarking on an innovative initiative to shape the future of its students through the "Portrait of a Graduate" project.

Recognizing that academic excellence alone is insufficient for success in the modern world, the school aims to define and cultivate the essential non-academic skills crucial for students' success in college, career, and citizenship, a press release from the district said.

"We recognize the importance of a holistic approach to education that goes beyond traditional academics," said Jim Nee, Superintendent at Colton-Pierrepont School. "The Portrait of a Graduate will serve as a roadmap for developing well-rounded individuals who are prepared to thrive in all aspects of life."

The project seeks input from various stakeholders, including parents, educators, alumni, local businesses, employers, and higher education representatives.

“The Portrait of a Graduate project is a groundbreaking endeavor that will integrate diverse perspectives to ensure all students are equipped with the 21st-century skills, character traits, and social-emotional competencies necessary for navigating today's complex world, the release said.

The school encourages individuals to participate in community events on April 26 and May 1 at the Colton-Pierrepont Central School, where they can contribute their insights and ideas.

"We invite everyone to join us in shaping the future of our students," added Nee. "Your input matters, and together, we can ensure that our youth are equipped to excel in learning and life."
