Richard L. Bond, 96, Norfolk

NORFOLK -- Funeral services for Richard L. Bond, 96, a resident of 61 West Main Street, Norfolk, will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk with Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding.

Burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery later this spring.

Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Mr. Bond passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, March 26, 2024, at the Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Massena with his loving family by his side after a brief stay.

Richard is survived by three sons, Richard Bond and his companion, Cheryl Bray, Norfolk; Gaylord and Becky Bond, Chase Mills; Mark and Laurie Bond, Norfolk; his daughter, Valerie and James Pircsuk, Norfolk; several beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson and a brother, Jack and Wanda Bond, TN as well as several nieces and nephews.

Richard was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife, Helen, two sons, Gerald and Brian Bond, five brothers, Francis, Kenneth, Amos, James and William and two sisters, Sylvia and Joan.

Born in Potsdam, NY in June 29, 1927, to the late Alfred and Mable LaPlante Bond, Richard attended Norfolk High School until he started working.

He married Helen Kelly on December 27, 1948. Helen later passed away in 2007.

Most recently, Richard drove truck for Pahler Packing Co., Potsdam NY for several years and previously worked at the Lavigne’s Garage in Norfolk and the Norfolk Paper Mill.

One of Richard’s passion was taking care of the family hobby farm. He enjoyed every aspect of it.

He also enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and smoking his cigars.

Richard was a one of a kind man who was always willing to help others and was loved and respected by many and will be missed very much. He also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino.
