Elizabeth I. Pappas, 75, Hermon

HERMON-Funeral services for Elizabeth I. Pappas, 75, of Hermon will be held on Sunday, April 28th, 2024 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Canton at 2 p.m. with Rev. Reggie Curtis officiating.  A celebration of life reception will follow the funeral service in the church reception center.   Mrs. Pappas died on Thursday evening, April 25, 2024 at her home following a brief illness, surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.  

Arrangements are under the direction of Frary Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Ogdensburg.

Elizabeth I. Pappas was born on October 27, 1948 in South Edwards, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Fenton) O’Shea.  She completed an associate’s degree from SUNY Canton, in Hotel and Restaurant Management.  She worked as a caterer for Timeless Taste Catering in Hermon.  Her first marriage to James L. Waugh would end in divorce, she would remarry to Hubert Carpenter, he passed away in 2016.  She would find love again, marrying Roy Pappas.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, reading and crafts.  She loved her churches; the Calvary Baptist Church in Canton and the United Church of Richville.  One of her greatest joys was helping people, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Pappas; her children, James L. Waugh and his wife Debbie of Colorado, Thomas V. Waugh of New Hartford, NY and Katherine Whiteford and her husband John of Hermon; her siblings, Rosemary Allen of Hermon, and Cindy Griffin of Whiting, Maine; as well as ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Irene O’shea; and her siblings, Charles H. O’ Shea Jr., and Beverly VanGrol.
