Elaine C. Saunders, 97, Massena

MASSENA -- Elaine C. Saunders, age 97, passed away February 2, 2024, at Massena Hospital.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.

There will be no public calling hours or funeral services at this time.

Elaine was born to Emery and Delia (Oshier) Larmay on March 24, 1926, in Altamont, NY.

She was employed at many establishments in the Massena area as a bartender, working for local entertainer Tex Montana at The Diamond Horseshoe Bar & Restaurant.

She was married to her loving husband, William A. “Bill” Saunders on December 27, 1947, in Faust, NY at the Holy Name Church with the late Rev. Dennis Finnegan presiding.

Elaine was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Massena and the Massena AMVETS Post No. 4.

Elaine is survived by her two sons, Scott E. and James A. Saunders both of Massena, NY, a grandson, Brandon Saunders; and a brother, Norman and wife, Kay Larmay of Moria, NY, along with nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her husband, William A. Saunders in 2017 and a sister in-law, Mary Saunders.
