Edmund J. Cole, 80, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- Edmund J. Cole, 80, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away unexpectedly at home, early Sunday morning March 10, 2024.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Notre Dame Church at 2:00pm on Friday, March 15, 2024, with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating.

Calling hours will be held 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Ed was born September 19, 1943, in Ogdensburg to the late Edmund Orgillis and Anna Robinson Cole.

He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and obtained degrees from both SUNY Potsdam and St. Lawrence University. His long teaching career included work at Morristown, Lisbon, and Ogdensburg Free Academy.

Ed is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nicole Fiset Cole; a son, David (Karen) Cole of Ithaca; three daughters, Gayla (Jeffrey) Levine of Windham, NH; Shannon (Joseph) Ahlo of Princeton Junction, NJ; and Erin (Samuel Keller) Cole of Watertown, MA. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen (Martha) Cole, brother-in-law, John (Kay) Fiset, and sister-in-law, Lise (John) Marcinkowski; seven grandchildren, (Kevin, Lauren, Luke, Caitlin, Claire, Alexander, and Violet); one great grandson (Charlie); special friends, Tina and Derrick Dalton; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Ed was predeceased by an infant brother, John Christopher, and sisters-in-law, Jocelyne and Carole Fiset.

Mr. Cole had a wide range of hobbies and interests, ranging from classical music to hunting to gardening.

A sports enthusiast, he loved the NY Yankees, Montreal Canadiens, Syracuse football, Buffalo Bills, and any event involving his children or grandchildren.

He took pride in raising his own tomatoes and apples, woodworking, and his expert marksmanship (1000+ woodchucks). A life-long learner, he pursued history, politics, eclair baking, fantasy sports,
travel, opera, and chess.
