Bonnie Bova Tracy, 69, Canton

CANTON -- Bonnie Bova Tracy, a beloved figure known for her unwavering love, compassion, and dedication to serving others, passed away peacefully on March 8th, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends in Cocoa Beach, Florida. She was 69 years old.

Bonnie was born on November 23rd, 1954, and raised in Burke, New York, as one of seven siblings to her loving parents Gerald and Luva (Patnode) Bova.

She graduated from Chateaugay Central School, earned an Associates Degree from Canton ATC and her Master’s Degree in Education from SUNY Potsdam.

Throughout her lifetime, Bonnie remained an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where her faith guided her actions. She dedicated countless hours to volunteering for various organizations, embodying the principles of selflessness and kindness.

Bonnie's professional journey was equally impactful. Before her retirement, she served as a special education teacher at Banford Elementary School in Canton.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Bonnie found solace and joy in simple pleasures. She cherished moments spent kayaking, reading books, and basking in the serenity of beaches.

Her camp was a sanctuary where she could unwind and appreciate the beauty of nature.

However, her most cherished role was that of a devoted mother and grandmother.

Bonnie's love for her four children, Jason (Kathryn) Tracy, Natasha (Christopher) Deet, Danielle (Tyler) Janisewski, and Megan (Michael) Reddick, and her twelve grandchildren knew no bounds.

She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to building lasting memories and nurturing familial bonds.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don Tracy, and her parents, Gerald and Luva

Bova and is survived by her 6 siblings, Charlotte, David, Connie, Joan, Karen, and Fred.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Sunday, March 17th, at Lawrence Funeral Home (21 Park Street, Canton, NY) from 4:00-7:00pm.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 18th, at St. Mary’s Church (66 Court Street, Canton, NY) at 10:00am, followed by a gathering at The Knights of Columbus (30 Miner Street, Canton, NY) from 11:00-3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Bonnie's charity of choice, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Bonnie Bova Tracy's legacy of love, compassion, and service will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
