For years now, the Massena Long Sault Archery Club has had a bow shoot for carp. It doesn't make sense to have a carp shoot in the area (Ogdensburg to Massena) which is likely one of the top areas in the world for sport carp fishing. Which by the way is a catch and release sport. Carp shooting is not much of a sport because the fish are slow and in shallow water for the most part this time of year. Perhaps the DEC should be looking into a season for fishing and make taking the fish with a bow illegal. And perhaps in the interim the archers should look at shooting something they will eat instead of discarding into a pit and burying.
