MADRID -- A Winthrop man was jailed Tuesday following alleged domestic violence in which he grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and threw her to the ground, causing extreme pain, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Dillan M. McCarthy, 23, was charged with aggravated criminal contempt, second-degree criminal contempt and third-degree assault.
McCarthy was in violation of a stay away court order, officers said.
He was also found to be in possession of a firearm, in violation of the same order ordering him to turn over all firearms to the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said.
McCarthy was also charged with driving while intoxicated on Tuesday following a property-damage accident on county Route 38 in Norfolk, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Pierrepont court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail on $2,000 bail.
