Today will be another sunny and warm day in St. Lawrence County, with high temperatures in the 80s through the weekend before unpleasantly warm air returns to the North County with highs in the 90s early next week, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters are warning of the possibility of showers tonight and Saturday, but they put the chance of precipitation no higher than 40 percent across the county, and any rain is not expected to be widespread.
The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
• Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Light and variable wind.
• Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph in the evening.
• Saturday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. South wind 3 to 5 mph.
• Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 88. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the morning.
• Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 65. Light and variable wind.
• Monday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
• Monday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
• Tuesday: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Southwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
• Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
• Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.
• Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 82. West wind 3 to 6 mph.
