CANTON -- The town’s contract with Gray and Gray CPA, set to lapse at the end of June, has been extended another six months until December 2018.
The town board approved extending the contract at their meeting Wednesday, May 9.
The firm will continue to supply accounting services to the town at rate of $4,150 per month.
Town Supervisor Mary Ann Ashley hired Gray and Gray to handle the town’s regular accounting when she assumed the office in January from former Supervisor David Button. At that time, Ashley appointed Gray and Gray to a six-month contract to provide the service.
The firm was initially hired in the fall of 2017 with the support of a consensus of the town board. Gray and Gray was contracted to manage town accounting as a response to public criticism of how the job had been handled by Button from his office.
Gray and Gray has regularly received high praise from the current board for their detailed regular accounting reports and what board members describe as improved viewing access to the accounting information.
“They have been doing a wonderful job,” Ashley said.
