POTSDAM – One person was reportedly hurt badly enough in a fire this afternoon to a Pine Street house that he was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital and might require further treatment elsewhere.
Potsdam firefighters were sent to the scene on Pine Street near the River Road cutoff after a passerby called in the fire at 12:54 p.m.
Fire damage to the exterior front of the house does not appear extensive, but one occupant of the house was badly burned, one official at the scene said.
Smoke stains were apparent above both upstairs front windows.
One first responder was also reportedly hurt, but not as badly.
As of about 2 p.m., the fire appeared to be out and firefighters were assembling for a cause and origin inspection.
West Potsdam volunteers responded through mutual aid, and West Stockholm firefighters were standing by at the Potsdam fire station.
