POTSDAM -- Sergi’s Italian Restaurant will be opening temporarily in what was Julian’s Restaurant, 38 Market St., while their original location is being rebuilt.
“We want to get the ball rolling, get back in business,” said Saverino Spagnolo, grandson of Sam and Carmela Spagnolo, owners of Sergi’s.
“There will be dining, deliveries and takeouts” at the Julian’s spot, much as it has been at Sergi’s, said Saverino.
Sergi’s Italian Restaurant and Banquet Hall were severely damaged in the storm that hit Potsdam July 16. High winds tore the roof off of the building, and it has been closed since then while work proceeds.
While they plan on rebuilding and re-opening as soon as they can, it will be some time before they can reopen at the 10 Market Street location, Saverino said.
“We will be making some changes, and we’re going to make it better,” he said.
Julian’s closed in this spring.
