POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce wants to remind the public that the first block of Market Street, between Main and Elm, will be closed to vehicle traffic from Thursday morning at 6 a.m. through Saturday night at midnight, for the Potsdam Chamber’s 44th Annual Summer Festival.
Chamber Executive Director Marylee Ballou is asking residents to make sure to move their vehicles off the 1-35 block of Market either Wednesday evening, July 13 or by 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
In past years cars parked in the cordoned-off section were towed so the Chamber could set up the Main Stage and seating, and so vendors could set up. Vehicle owners who are towed are responsible for the towing and impound fee.
The Chamber is encouraging anyone who requires overnight parking during those dates to park at the overnight lots on Beal, Main, and Raymond Streets.
The Chamber also would like to remind the public that the cordoned-off section of Market Street is for pedestrian use only during the three-day festival. Bicycle and skateboard riding are is not allowed in that area for safety reasons.
Metered parking is still in effect Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
