RENSSELAER FALLS -- The Rensselaer Falls-area band Tyrade has a chance to open for Kiss at their Aug. 13 concert near Buffalo.

An online contest by eventful.com asks viewers to vote for their favorite band. As of Thursday morning, Tyrade was in sixth place, two votes behind the fifth-place band. Bands need to be in the top five to be in the running. Kiss will choose the band to open for them from among the top five.

The Kiss concert site that Tyrade is entered for is in Darien Lake, near Buffalo, on Aug. 13, the closest to the North Country on their tour.

Each city's competition ends approximately two weeks before the concert takes place, so there is a little over a week to vote.
