OGDENSBURG -- The list of places people can pick up pledge sheets for the Feb. 16 Polar Bear Plunge keeps growing.

They are available at Kimro¹s Medicine Place, Phillips Diner, North Country Savings Bank, NBT Bank, Ed-Med Federal Credit Union, St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union, atthe  Dobisky Visitor¹s Center and the Chamber of Commerce office.

One of River Shiver¹s most popular events, the Polar Bear Plunge is sponsored by the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce and the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad. There will be some new faces taking the plunge along with some favorites.

Dick Fitzgerald picked up his pledge sheets, hoping to be the oldest jumper for the seventh time. Crowd pleasers Jack Downing and Paige Merz will be back competing against each other for the most pledges. They¹ve reached out to Fort Drum and the area colleges, too.

The Polar Bear Plunge will take place Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. at the municipal marina. The cost to enter the plunge is $35 in pledges per person, and children under 18 years of age must have the written consent of a parent.

The person who recruits the most pledges will win 10 percent of the purse.

Last year Jack Downing won $490. Prizes for the best costumes will also be awarded. Other highlights will include a 50/50 raffle and door prizes.

For more information or to register contact Sandy Porter at the chamber office, 393-3620, or visit ogdensburgny.com to download a pledge sheet.
