OGDENSBURG -- As Ogdensburg officials prepare to seek funding to help rehabilitate homes in Ogdensburg, planners are asking interested property owners to take a survey.
The City of Ogdensburg is considering the submission of an application for funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
The proposed application would be for rehabilitation of approximately 10-12 owner-occupied homes, on Ford Avenue in the City of Ogdensburg.
The council will be holding a public hearing on the proposed application on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. in City Hall.
In an effort to demonstrate a need for the program funds to New York State, the city is requesting eligible homeowners that are interested in participating in the program to complete an Income and Housing Conditions Survey.
Individuals that complete the Income and Housing Conditions Survey will be added to the priority waiting list for housing programs.
If the city is successful in receiving CDBG funds, those persons on the waiting list will be asked to apply for funding through the CDBG program. Completing the survey does not guarantee funding to any individual if the grant is received.
Ogdensburg has entered into an agreement with the Development Authority of the North Country to assist in the preparation of the grant application and to administer the grant if it is successfully funded.
Ogdensburg working with the Development Authority has successfully completed an 11-unit housing rehab program for Ford Street and is currently finishing up another 12-unit housing rehab program on New York Avenue to help eligible homeowners with necessary home improvements.
Ogdensburg will be mailing a letter and the survey directly to single family homeowners in the Ford Avenue target area.
