The 2018 North Country Historical Writing contest is underway and entries will be accepted until March 9.
The contest is open to people of all ages living in Jefferson or St. Lawrence County. It is sponsored by North Country Assemblywoman Addie A. E. Jenne and NorthCountryNow.com.
Historical fiction or nonfiction stories that take place in Jefferson or St. Lawrence County will be considered and can be no longer than 2,000 words.
Stories will be judged based on their historical and dramatic content, style, and connection to the region. The ideal story is one that demonstrates knowledge about the North Country’s heroes and places, or an original piece of historical fiction.
Stories are due by 11:59 p.m. on March 9, 2018 and an awards ceremony will be held for the winners and the runners up at the Potsdam Public Library. Winners and runners up from each age bracket will have their biography and story featured in North Country This Week.
Their full story will be published online at NorthCountryNow.com.
