MASSENA – A Massena man whose wife died under mysterious circumstances last May has been charged for allegedly throwing objects at his daughter, according to state police.
James A. Farbotnik, 56, 355 State Rt. 37C, was charged Sunday with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.
State police report Farbotnik was accused of throwing several objects at one of his minor children earlier that day.
He was arraigned before Massena Town Justice Gerald Sharlow in Massena Town Court and released to reappear in Massena Town Court on Dec. 21 at 5 p.m.
Justice Sharlow also issued a non-harassment order of protection for the victim.
On May 30, Farbotnik called St. Lawrence County 911 about 1:10 a.m. to report that he discovered his wife, Vinira Farbotnik, 43, unresponsive in their family pond.
Her death was investigated by the state police bureau of criminal investigation, however, no suspects were ever arrested.
Farbotnik was originally investigated as a possible suspect, but in August, police said he was no longer a person of interest.
