MASSENA -- Village police are investigating a bicycle accident that resulted in a man being sent to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse with a head injury.
On Sunday shortly before 8 p.m., several motorists on state Route 37 called 911 and reported that Robert Wilson, 46, of Massena was lying on the side of the road after an apparent bicycle accident.
Wilson was discovered lying face-up on the shoulder with his bicycle on top of him, bleeding from the back of his head.
Acting Police Chief Adam Love said there were no witnesses and it appears Wilson fell while riding.
“We’re still investigating that end and just looking to confirm,” Love said, adding that police believe alcohol was involved.
