MASSENA -- An inmate at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility was arrested Tuesday for allegedly cashing forged checks in August.
Justin L. LaFleur, 27, Massena, was charged with four counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and fourth-degree grand larceny, all felonies, troopers said.
Troopers said that during the month of August, LaFleur stole checks from a 71-year-old victim and cashed four of them at two separate Community Bank locations in Massena and Madrid, totaling approximately $1,395.
At the time of LaFleur’s arrest he was already being held at the St. Lawrence County Jail for a parole violation.
He was arraigned in the Massena court and remanded back to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 secured bond.
LaFleur is scheduled to reappear in court Oct. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
