The St. Lawrence County Traffic Safety Program has announced the winners of their Public Safety Announcement (PSA) writing contest.

Entrants were asked to compose original PSA scripts to encourage safer walking and biking, and to convince motorists to use due care when sharing the road with pedestrians and bicyclists.

Prizes included a $15 check donated by Davison Graphics, and bike lights donated by Charlie Titus.

The first place winner for the Grade 1 through 6 entries is Joseph Greene, a student in Mrs. McGrath’s third grade class at Madrid-Waddington Central School.

Second place went to Haile Love Bouchey from Hermon-Dekalb, and Austin Dumas finished in third place.

Several entries received honorable mention: Colby Boland, Kelsie Forbes, Carmen Martin, and Maggie Murphy (all from Madrid-Waddington Central School).

The winning and honorable mention scripts have been recorded, and will be used in county safety promotion campaigns.
