NORWOOD – Lower income residents in St. Lawrence County may be eligible for free broadband satellite equipment and reduced monthly fees.

HughesNet high-speed satellite Internet service, represented locally by K&B Electronics, says 60,000 homes within a 60-mile of Norwood are eligible for benefits through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The HughesNet service, selected by the federal government to participate in the program, can offer eligible households Internet service with equipment or standard installation at no cost, and a reduced monthly fee.

“What this basically means is that a customer that qualified would get set up free, get a reduced monthly fee of $39.99 with no lease fees or term commitment,” said K & B Electronics.
