Gouverneur’s leaf and brush pickup to begin next week, but no more leaves in bags

GOUVERNEUR – Bagged leaves will no longer be picked up in the village’s scheduled curbside brush and leaf pickup, according to an announcement from the village superintendent of public works, Danny Forbes.

Fall pickups will begin the first week in October, time and weather permitting,

They wish to remind people that tree limbs are to be cut into manageable pieces and leaves and garden debris are to be placed in a neat row alongside the curb. Construction materials and garbage will not be picked up.

If you have a tree cut at your residence, the DPW will provide you with a flatbed truck at no charge for you or your contractor to load with brush. The DPW does not provide pickup service for whole trees.

If you wish to have your leaves and brush picked up sooner than your location is scheduled for, you can call the DPW office at 287-0110 and make an appointment to have a Dial-A-Truck left at your residence overnight or over the weekend. Once you have loaded the leaves and brush onto the truck, the DPW will be back the following morning to take it away on the truck. There is no charge for this service.

To find out roughly when your area is scheduled to be serviced, you can check the zone map on the village’s website at www.villageofgouverneur.org.
