AKWESASNE -- The Akwesasne woman whose death is being investigated by several police agencies is believed to be Lori S. Martin Lazore, 47, according to sources.
Tribal, state and Canadian authorities are investigating the death that occurred Monday in Snye, Quebec, on the Canadian side of the transnational St. Regis Mohawk Reservation.
Police received a call at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday from the Twin Leaf gas station in Fort Covington indicating that 26-year-old Ryan Lazore had possibly killed someone at a Snye residence.
State police say they contacted Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS), who responded to the address and found a dead female.
Troopers are participating in the probe, along with AMPS and Sûreté du Quebec. State police said they could not comment on the investigation and directed all media inquiries regarding the investigation to AMPS.
Emails and phone calls directed to AMPS were not immediately returned.
