Potsdam, NY - Skidmore senior Lindsay Stavola scored five of her game-high nine goals, including two that allowed the momentum to shift back to the Thoroughbreds, in the second half as the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team succumbed 15-9 Friday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field.

The Golden Knights fell to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the Liberty League, and the team will try to get back on track on Saturday when they host Union College. Skidmore improved to 6-3 overall and saw its conference record evened at 2-2. 

Skidmore led throughout Friday's contest, scoring the opening goal with just over a minute expired from the game clock. The Thoroughbreds were up 5-0 in the first 14 minutes before Clarkson finally got on the scoreboard as Cammie Hayes (Queensbury, NY) ended the shutout bid with her second score of the season. However, the Clarkson goal did little to change the fortunes for the Knights, as Skidmore ended the half with an 8-2 advantage, including a goal with just nine seconds to go in the opening 30 minutes.

Clarkson opened the second half in a similar fashion to Skidmore's start, edging back to within two goals with a four-goal run in the first 10 minutes. Leading by just two, the Thoroughbreds picked up a key goal from Stavola at the 19:05 mark. Five minutes later, after Clarkson again narrowed the advantage to just two, Stavola came through with an unassisted marker, and then added another to put Skidmore back up by four. From there, the Thoroughbreds allowed just two more scores by the Knights and held on for a six-goal margin.

Sophomore Alyssa Cristaldi (Syracuse, NY) scored four times and added an assist to push her totals to 25 goals and 12 assists on the season, helping her surpass the 100-career point mark in the process and making her just the eighth player at Clarkson to reach that plateau. Classmate Katie VanDeValk (Baldwinsville, NY) added two goals, two assists, three groundballs and six draw controls for the Knights. Freshman Marissa Mastronardi (Cortland, NY) was the only other player for Clarkson to record a multi-point game, adding a goal and an assist. 

For Skidmore, Stavola added two assists to go along with her nine goals, and picked up a pair of groundballs. Lauren Madden had two goals, an assist, and three groundballs, while Kimberly Segalas had a goal, two assists, and four draws. 

The Thoroughbreds held narrow leads in shots (28-24) and groundballs (17-14) in the game, and the two teams split the 26 draw controls, 13-13. Clarkson goaltender Hannah Walters (Amherst, NH) made nine saves, while Skidmore's Rachel Klein had seven stops.
