Senior Ben Crawford recorded his fourth double-double of the season and second of the weekend lifting the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team to a 70-62 win over the Vassar Brewers in Liberty League play on Saturday afternoon at Burkman Gymnasium.

St. Lawrence improved to 7-5 on the season and 4-1 in conference play, while the Brewers fell to 5-7 and 1-4.

Crawford was 7-for-13 from the floor, scored 17 points and grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds. Riley Naclerio finished as the Saints only other double-digit scorer with 13 points and five rebounds, shooting 5-for-11 from the floor. Chris Miner scored seven points and recorded a team-best three blocks.

After five lead changes throughout the first ten minutes of play, St. Lawrence took a 16-10 lead on a fast-break layup from Jordan Huntley. The Brewers fought within one twice, but the Saints maintained their lead through the remainder of the half and posted a 34-28 lead at the break following a layup from Crawford with six seconds to play.

Paul Grinde went 2-for-2 from the line early in the second to tie the game at 40 and the Brewers took a 45-43 lead on buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Lance Tebay. Kyle Kappas and first-year Cale Sargent traded 3-pointers and the score remained tied at 48 with 8:53 remaining.

Naclerio sunk the next 3-pointer for a 51-48 advantage and Saints sealed the win with layups from Naclerio and Crawford and combined to shoot 9-for-9 from the line down the stretch.

"Crawford is a beast on the glass," said head coach Chris Downs. "Overall, it was a very nice weekend for us and I'm proud of the team's effort and intensity. Now, the challenge of six straight road games lies ahead of us."

Alex Seff led Vassar with 12 points, while Grinde and Mason Dyslin each scored 10. Dyslin grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, while Grinde recorded five assists and Kappas picked up two steals for the Brewers.

The Saints combined to shoot 40.4 percent from the floor, while the Brewers shot 40.0 percent. St. Lawrence also shot 87.5 percent from the line, picked up 12 points off turnovers, 19 fast-break points and 26 points off the bench.

St. Lawrence will travel to Ithaca and Union next weekend to take on the Bombers and the Dutchmen on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Game times are set for 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
