Roos men' s cross country fifth at CCOC Championships

(Geneva, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men’s cross country team turned in another tremendous performance on Saturday as they finished in fifth place out of 13 teams at the Cross Country Only Colleges championships at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva.

The invitational, hosted by Hobart and William Smith, is for those colleges that only offer cross country and not track and field. Clarkson University won the men’s race followed by Hartwick College, SUNYIT, Morrisville State College, SUNY Canton, Paul Smith’s College, Hobart College, Penn State Abington, Penn State Altoona, Keuka College, Medaille College, Hilbert College, and D’Youville College.

This was the final regular season meet for the Roos who will now prepare for the USCAA national meet Nov. 10 in Lake Placid.

SUNY Canton, who have won two invitationals this fall, was paced by junior Justin Richardson (Pavilion, N.Y.), who finished in sixth place out of 141 total runners. Richardson, who has been the top finisher in every meet this fall for the Roos, completed the 8K course in a time of 28:08.

Sophomore Jonathan Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) also recorded a top 20 finish coming across the line in 19th place in a time of 29:29. Sophomore Dylan Barringer (Walkill, N.Y.) came in 33rd place with a time of 30:11. Freshman Timothy Messina (Queensbury, N.Y.) was 38th (30:18), sophomore Thomas Lauzon (Bombay, N.Y.) was 50th (30:52), freshman Addisu Woldehawariat (Bronx, N.Y.) was 53rd (31:01), sophomore Scott Jeffers (Livonia, N.Y.) was 58th (31:53), sophomore Seth Hinman (Potsdam, N.Y.) was 62nd (32:05), and freshman Leonardo Garcia (Bronx, N.Y.) was 75th (33:21).
