(Presque Isle, Maine)- Senior guard Ryan Lamica (Constable, N.Y.) led four SUNY Canton men’s basketball players in double figures with 14 points as the Roos lost to the University of Maine at Presque Isle 96-73 Saturday afternoon in Maine.
Lamica was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line for the Roos (5-13), who couldn’t overcome Presque Isle’s hot outside shooting. The Owls canned 12 3-pointers and shot 55 percent from the floor.
Sophomore Tyler Ellison (New York, N.Y.) and Scott Bartenstein (Potsdam, N.Y.) scored 13 points apiece. Ellison added six rebounds and Bartenstein made two steals. Junior Khalid Vaughn (New York, N.Y.) added 12 points and four rebounds, and freshman Michael Pulci (Staten Island, N.Y.) contributed eight points and four rebounds.
Aaron Hutchins buried five second-half 3-pointers en route to a game-high 23 points to pace the Owls attack. Michael Warner added 20 points and five rebounds.
The Roos are next in action on Sunday when they take on the University of Maine at Fort Kent at 2 p.m.
