Junior Jake Kielly (Eden Prairie, MN) backstopped the defense, while the offense enjoyed its most productive game of the season to lead Clarkson University to a convincing 6-0 victory over Rensselaer at Houston Field House in Troy, NY in its ECAC Hockey opener on Friday night.

Winners of fourth straight, the Golden Knights face off at Union College in Schenectady on Saturday to close out the weekend in the Capital District.

ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Month for October, Kielly continued his strong play into November, making 34 saves, including 16 in the third period as the Green and Gold shut out the Engineers for the fourth consecutive game. The Knights, who have outscored their rival 17-0 in their last four meetings, have not allowed an RPI goal in the last 260:07 of series' action.

With a pair of late scores in the first and second periods, and a four-goal outburst over the final 20 minutes, Clarkson has now won six straight and nine of the last 10 games over the Engineers.

RPI outshot Clarkson 34-26, but it was the Knights who made the most of their chances. Junior co-captain Nico Sturm (Augsburg, Germany) led the way with two goals. Junior defenseman Greg Moro (Edmonton, ALB) recorded three assists.

Freshman center Josh Dunne (O'Fallon, MO), ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month, opened the scoring by tipping in a shot from the point by Moro with 34 seconds remaining in the first period. Sophomore Grant Copper (Cornwall, ONT) also assisted.

Sturm made it 2-0 late in the second, skating down the right wing and cutting in front where he flipped in a shot at 17:43. Moro and freshman Chris Klack (Georgetown, ONT) set up the play.

Just 54 seconds into the final frame, Sturm scored a power-play goal when his shot from the side of the net deflected in off an RPI defenseman. Moro and freshman defenseman Brian Hurley (Dellwood, MN) assisted.

At 2:18, sophomore Jack Jacome (Caledon, ONT) fired in a wrist shot from between the circles for a 4-0 Clarkson lead.

Junior Haralds Egle (Liepaja, Latvia) continued the Clarkson run with his third goal of the season at 15:15, putting in a perfect centering pass by Klack. Junior defenseman Jordan Schneider (Toronto, ONT) also assisted.

Sophomore Kevin Charyszyn (Jamison, PA) closed the road win out at 16:01, finishing off assists from Dunne and freshman Adam Tisdale (Cochrane, ALB).

Clarkson was 1-of-3 on the power play and killed off all four of the Engineers' man-advantage opportunities.
