POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Geneseo (8-5, 1-0 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (4-8, 0-1 SUNYAC) 3-0 in its SUNYAC opener, Friday afternoon.
The Bears fought in the first set, however the Knights edged them out 26-24. Geneseo took the next two sets 25-11 and 25-13. Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) led the team with eight kills, and tacked on an ace. Sophomore middle hitter Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) had four kills and freshman setter Alyssa Rogers (Anchorage, Alaska/Grace Christian) had three kills and six digs. Sophomore outside hitter Gabby Scott (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) had 15 digs, along with an ace and a kill. Senior setter Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) led Potsdam with 16 assists and also had a kill.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow when they host Oneonta at 12 p.m. and Oswego at 2:30 p.m. for the second day of SUNYAC pool play.
