To the Editor:
The Board of Directors and Member Growers of the North Country Grown Cooperative Inc. would like to extend our gratitude to all members of the community who attended our Fall Harvest Benefit Dinner on October 13th. We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Yellow Moon’s Kathy Sommer, Kevin Irwin, and David Katz who graciously donated their time and talent to provide us with terrific jazz music. The Board especially thanks Brian and Jenny Walker, owners of the 1844 House in Potsdam for generously hosting the dinner and serving a delicious six course meal prepared nearly entirely from local ingredients.
Thanks to all this support, the event sold out and raised over $2,200, to be used towards the purchase and maintenance of a delivery van so that we can continue to supply North Country schools, restaurants and institutions with fresh locally produced foods. We are fortunate to serve a community as wonderful and supportive as St. Lawrence County.
In the past five years, North Country Grown Cooperative has assisted our members and producers by selling close to a half million dollars in locally grown food within our community. If you would like more information about joining the cooperative or purchasing local food please visit our web site at www.northcountrygrown.com or call Sue Rau at 315-769-5061.
