To the Editor:
I am writing this letter to publicly challenge Doug Hoffman to give a direct answer to the question of whether or not he will withdraw from the race for Congress if he loses the Republican primary.
I have been present when he has been asked this question directly and he refuses to give a yes or no answer. Instead he proves that he is a politician and says many words that mean nothing.
His opponent Matt Doheny has publicly stated over and over again that if he loses the Republican primary (very unlikely) he will withdraw from the race, proving that he wants what is best for the residents of the 23rd Congressional District.
Mr. Hoffman did make the statement during last year’s special election that he would withdraw from the race if he didn’t get the Republican endorsement, then when back on his word, showing us all that Doug Hoffman is in the race for the good of Doug Hoffman and no one else.
Mr. Hoffman has proven that again this year by paying himself interest on the personal loans he has made to the campaign. 7.5% is a pretty good return on your money in this day and age.
The 23rd Congressional District needs a public servant in office, not another politician. If you care about your future vote for Matt Doheny in the upcoming primary and election.
In closing I ask once again – Doug Hoffman, will you withdraw from the race if you lose the primary?
I will await a reply, but I won’t hold my breath!
