Three St. Lawrence County students doing summer research as CUPO (Community of Underrepresented Professional Opportunities) Summer Scholars. These students conduct research under the guidance of faculty mentors during the 10-week summer program.
The program also includes a weekly workshop series that covers the graduate school application process and features alumni seminar presenters.
They include:
Emmalyn Dupree of Massena, a junior majoring in biomolecular science. She is studying “Proteomic Investigation of Saliva from Patients with Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome (SLOS)” under faculty mentor Prof. Costel Darie.
Kristen Pyke of Akwesasne, a senior attending Syracuse University and majoring in psychology. The McNair scholar is studying “Public and self-stigma of individuals diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)” under faculty mentor Prof. Kevin Antshel of Syracuse University.
Anthony Yang of Massena is majoring in computer science. The CSTEP scholar is studying “Mining Twitter data for Social Trends” under faculty mentor Prof. Jeanna Matthews.
