Tri-Town Festival July 29-31 to feature tractor pulls, lawnmower races, parade, magic show, airplane demo, food, other events

BRASHER -- The 17th Tri-Town Festival is set for July 29 to 31.

There will be free kid-friendly events throughout the weekend.

LBSH will host a senior ice cream social from 12:30 to 3 p.m. High Peaks Winery will offer “Redneck Horseshoes” at 5 p.m. on Pickle Street. Massena Memorial Hospital and the Brasher Falls Family Health Center will serve free ice cream at the bus garage at 8 p.m. There will be parade marshal selection and fireworks at 9 p.m. People can also turn in their Tri-Townopoly boards.

July 30 starts with a Puzzle Piece 5K in the Tri-Town Arena parking lot at 8 a.m. Inside the arena, there will be a 9 a.m. frog jumping contest. The Masons will offer child ID cards from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the arena. Parade lines up at St. Lawrence Central at 10 a.m. for the 11 a.m. march. The route is from the school to Agway. Register a float: 261-2809 or 842-2613. There will be a carnival at the arena with bounce houses, a slide, face-painting and other events from noon to 3 p.m. and live music from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Human Hungry Hungry Hippos will be at 2 p.m. for ages 10 and up. There will be a duck and turtle race behind the arena at 3 p.m. for $5 per duck or turtle. Pickup kickball and volleyball will be behind the arena at 3 p.m.

From 1 to 4 p.m. will be the Lowell Kelsey radio control airplane demo at the corner of Pickle Street and county Route 47. People can call 389-4113 for more on that event. Primabella’s will host an ice cream and hot dog-eating contest at 2 p.m. People need to register by noon. The number for more info about that is 389-4222. A 2 p.m. antique car show will be at the Lawrenceville fire station. Spirits of Downtown will host wine tasting from 3 to 5 p.m. for age 21 and up. A steak dinner will be serve at the Brasher-Winthrop fire station at 5 p.m. There will be a block party in Lawrenceville at 6 p.m. with music by Timeline, free popcorn and lemonade.

Tractor pulls will be on Smith Road in Brasher Ironworks from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A fishing derby free for ages 1 to 15 will be at Tower Pond on U.S. Route 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. North Lawrence Fire Department will serve a chicken BBQ from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. More info: 212-7794.
