LAKE PLACID – The National Hockey League championship trophy, the Stanley Cup, will be in Lake Placid next week.
Boston Bruins’ head athletic trainer Don DelNegro, of Lake Placid, will bring the cup to his home town, as is the privilege of members and staff of the winning team.
Since the Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks to win the cup, it has been making its way through Canada and the United States.
On Tuesday, July 12, DelNegro will bring it to the Conference Center at Lake Placid’s Edelweiss Gallery for a public display, from 3 to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
Prior to joining the Bruins, DelNegro was head athletic trainer for the 1992 U.S. Olympic bobsled and luge teams, in Albertville, France, and was the head trainer for the U.S. men’s hockey team during the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy.
