45 teams, 400 students and coaches compete Friday and Saturday in robotics tournament in Potsdam
POTSDAM -- Schools from 13 local districts and two private schools are sending teams to the FIRST Robotics Championship Tournament Friday and Saturday at Clarkson University.
They will be joined by teams from central New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
All together, more than 400 students and their coaches, comprising 45 teams, are expected to participate in the two-day event.
On Friday, high school students will participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), with competition beginning after noon and awards at 5:30 p.m.
Middle school students, ages nine to 14, will compete on Saturday in the FIRST Lego League (FLL) challenge. Competition begins at 1 p.m. and the awards ceremony is at 4 p.m.
