CANTON -- St. Lawrence University will feature its spring 2016 dance concert “…At The Still Point…” for three nights April 21 to 23 beginning at 8 p.m.

Lecturer of Dance Kerri Canedy has choreographed many of the larger group numbers, and guest artist Jenna Del Monte will present a dance film during the show as well as a piece she choreographed for the Advanced Modern students in just four days.

The event will showcase a variety of themes and styles of dance, including contemporary modern, jazz, musical theatre, ballet and tap. Adding to the mixture will be a diverse collection of folk dances from around the world.

The concert will also feature seven dances choreographed by students. Carli Baldwin ’16, Canton, will perform in six pieces, three of which have been choreographed either by herself or her peers.

“It’s been a really great experience and opportunity to delve into creative expression, especially when dance isn’t a part of one’s major or field of interest,” Baldwin said. “The work creates a strong sense of team unity.”

In the absence of a mainstage theater production this semester, the students and faculty of the Department of Performance and Communication Arts are looking forward to pouring heart and soul into the lighting, sound and technical design.

The concert is free and open to students and the public, however tickets are required for entry, except for Thursday night’s preview performance. The box office hours are Monday to Friday, April 18 to 22 from 1 to 5 p.m.
