Many colleges to be hosted at 'Higher Education Night' in Canton on Tuesday

CANTON -- St. Lawrence University will host nearly 70 colleges and universities during its annual Higher Education Night, 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Leithead Field House.

The event is an opportunity for high school students and their families to meet representatives from participating colleges and to gather information. Financial aid representatives also will be available, providing details on the application process and the various types of financial aid available. Students from high schools throughout Northern New York and Canada are expected to attend.

Higher Education Night will also offer an “Ask Admissions Experts” panel discussion immediately preceding the event. The discussion will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Augsbury Physical Education Center and will end at 6:15 p.m. The selective college panel, which is intended for students in grades 9 though 11 and their parents as well as guidance counselors, will focus on what students can do in high school to enhance their applications for admission to selective colleges.

Panelists will comment on curricular choices, summer activities, jobs, schools and community activities.
