NORWOOD -- Local Living Venture will offer a workshop on working safely in the woods on June 24 at 5:30 p.m.
Presenters will describe the various types of wood and those best suited for burning for heat and will demonstrate wood splitting using various styles and how it has evolved throughout time, to include an ingenious modified hydraulic splitter owned by William LaPoint.
The event is at 1330 Old Market Rd., Knapps Station, off County Rte. 48.
Attendees should be prepared to be in the wilderness, i.e. dress appropriately, bring bug dope, drinking water and no open-toed shoes.
There is a suggested donation of $10, $5 student, free for NYFOA members. Scholarships are available with RSVP. Walk-ins are welcome. Call 347-4223 or email LocalLivingVenture@gmail.com for a spot.
