DEKALB JUNCTION -- DeKalb Town Historian Bryan Thompson will lecture on Lt. Col. Thomas B. Benedict, the commander of the St. Lawrence County Militia during the War of 1812, on June 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Meetinghouse Museum, 696 E. De Kalb Rd.
Admission is free.
Benedict was charged with protection of the northern frontier from Sackets Harbor to the Salmon River and rose to brigadier general by the end of the war.
He was a resident of DeKalb and influenced a number of citizens in our area.
The lecture will give insight into local events and characters of the time.
