HANNAWA FALLS -- “How to Cook Beans and Grains,” a seminar from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, might surprise people with lessons on how well people can eat cheaply.
The event is co-sponsored by Local Living Venture, RN and wellness teacher Paula Youmell, and the Potsdam Food Co-op.
It will be held in the kitchen at Helping Hands, at 5868 Rt. 56, Hannawa Falls, four miles south of Potsdam.
Presenters are Youmell and Chelle Lindahl of Local Living Venture.
Lindahl says most people would not believe how inexpensive it can be to dine on healthy of whole foods deliciously. She says dried beans and grains can be a complete protein meal for as little as 28 cents a serving, but cooking these wholesome foods may seem daunting to many people who haven't done it before.
A $20 donation level for workshop attendance is suggested for adults, $35 for a couple, $10 for students. Partial scholarship is available upon request. Class size is limited, so attendees will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with pre-registered participants receiving first priority. To RSVP for a guaranteed spot, call 347-4223, or email LocalLivingVenture@gmail.com with your name, phone number and email address for confirmation. Drop-ins are welcome if there is room.
